How to block the internet
and actually focus
If the internet is distracting you, youβre not alone.
The internet is⦠as an understatement⦠amazing.
Itβs probably how you discovered the last thing you learned.
How youβll entertain yourself later.
And itβs literally how youβre reading this right now.
Because itβs so amazing, itβs often more exciting than our work.
So as soon as you hit a block or the work gets a little hard, yβknow whatβs right there?
Reddit. Instagram. Facebook. TikTok. Netflix. The news. Email. (STAY HERE, STAY FOCUSED.)
But you can do something about it.!
There are several ways we suggest and recommend you block the internet. Check these out:
Freedom (Computer and Phone) - $80 for forever or $39/year
A technology blocker that works across devices. It allows you to customize what websites and applications are allowed in the Cave. Turn on a session and your selected sites are blocked.
Freedom βPauseβ (Chrome Extension) - Free
A browser extension that delays opening social media, news, and other potential distractions. Default is 5 seconds but make it 30seconds and that extra time gives you just enough space to rethink if you should be doing this.
BlockSite (MaC AND PC, iphone And ANDROID) - Freemium
A browser plug in and mobile app that will not allow you to access an editable list of sites. If you want to update your list of sites, you need to subscribe for $4, month.
OneSec (iPhone) - $12.75/year (includes a 15% Caveday discount)
One sec forces you to take a deep breath whenever you open social media apps. Itβs as simple as it is effective: added friction makes distracting apps less appealing.
Good old Airplane Mode - Free
On any device, simply turn off your internet or turn on airplane mode for the most effective way to block the internet. So many services offer offline mode (Adobe, Google Docs, Microsoft 365). If you know the feeling of being super productive on a plane, itβs because you didnβt have internet and didnβt have anywhere to go. Create an airplane environment at home.
