Discover the path to ship your most impactful work.

The Core Skills of Knowledge Work is an interactive training program that will teach you how to focus on work that matters and overcome the forces that get in the way.

In our chaotic and complex world, it’s more challenging than ever to feel grounded and make an impact. But it doesn’t have to be.

We’ve helped workers in 40+ countries and some of the world’s premier companies improve their relationship to work. In distilling the insights from the highest performers, it’s become clear to us what makes the difference:
a solid foundation of inter-related skills.

Without these eight core skills that build on each other, workers are vulnerable to the internal and external obstacles that impair satisfaction and progress. The Core Skills of Knowledge Work is a transformational journey through these essential competencies.

You’ll be given opportunities for self-reflection, tools to overcome the forces in the way, and a cohort of highly motivated support to help you incorporate these modules into your life.

The world needs you at your best.
Your teammates and loved ones need you at your best.

It’s time to take the next step in your journey to become an unassailable knowledge worker.
Are you ready?

More than just a series of workshops

Learn A Holistic Skillset

Each individual workshop teaches a skill that addresses a problem that nearly all knowledge workers face. The program, as a collective experience, is holistically curated and built to improve YOUR relationship to work, building on topics, frameworks, and assignments from previous workshops to create a more comprehensive learning experience.

You’ll spend time in each workshop doing activities and reflecting on your own upbringing, social scrips, and challenges at work to overcome the forces that get in the way of your best work.

Detailed Curriculum

We use the latest research in productivity, psychology, neurobiology and sociology to design all our workshops.

Foundation

This workshop is about the fundamental tools and practices needed for optimal knowledge work. We’ll talk about our relationship to work and introduce the forces that shape that relationship. Then, we’ll introduce a framework for thinking about improving that relationship through focus. This session includes a 30 minute work sprint, so bring something to work on.

Flow

Learn the foundational concept of deep work and how we can reach our peak performance. The framework here is based on how top athletes and musicians get into an altered state of consciousness and how we can intentionally get there in our work. We’ll learn to trick our brain on how to get into “flow.” Finally, we’ll summarize the tips for finding flow and doing deep work, whatever and wherever your work might be.

Focus

In this workshop, we’ll dive deep into our brain to better understand our nervous system. It’s responsible for our alertness and activating our focus. Not just that, but there are obvious players trying to vie for our attention (eg technology and other people) We’ll explore ways to protect your focus and consider new ways to remove distractions and overcome interruptions.

Energy

You'll learn the principles of energy management in this workshop. How to identify and prepare for the things that drain us at work. And then how to design better practices to energize yourself through the day– from taking more intentional breaks to better daily habits. Not just for energy throughout our day but sustainable for our career, ultimately avoiding burnout.

Creativity

Whether you identify as a creative person or not, much of our work in The Cave is creative. We’re asked to solve a problem and try something that might not work. This workshop is all about what happens when you have time blocked off for deep, creative work (like in The Cave). You’ll learn some of the challenges that get in the way for everyone, tools and techniques for overcoming creative stuck-ness, and a new understanding of creativity to empower you and motivate your next best creative idea.

Self-Knowledge

Because no one ever taught us how to work, we’ve pieced together advice, suggested ways of working, and things that might have helped us in school. But the more we can deeply learn about ourselves, the more we can show up our best. We’re able to reach our potential and achieve more. We’ll look at some of the blockers that get in the way of truly knowing ourselves, and review qualities we know about how we work, but never had a vocabulary or time to explore more deeply.

Relationships

Regardless of the kind of work we do, nearly everything comes back to relationships. We collaborate and connect with others to make better work than we could’ve made on our own. In this workshop, we’ll explore the framework of a team operating system– getting clear about the way partners and teams collaborate.

Team Operating System

As a team, it is so rare that we ever are explicit about the expectations when we work together. In this workshop, we'll create a structure for developing a team operating system. More than that, we'll discuss and uncover the challenges in the way of having this conversation in the first place. We believe when everyone is a part of defining the team agreements, we can work together more effectively and more efficiently.

Hey I’m Jake. I’ll be facilitating!

I spent the first decade of my career in advertising, making ad campaigns, commercials, and products you may remember. During that time, I was also an adjunct professor teaching courses in creative process, ideation, writing, and branding. Many of the curricula I wrote and designed myself.

Since early 2018, I have been a faculty member with The School of Life, leading workshops in topics of emotional intelligence for teams across the world.

I’ve always had a passion for teaching the things that no one ever taught us in school.

When we founded Caveday in late 2016, my role as a Co-Founder has been crafting our POV and creating content around it. That means I’m always reading books, researching, and writing new ideas and designing workshops, trainings, graphics, and visual messaging that contribute to the Caveday brand and methodology.

Ultimately, my goal is to make complex ideas not only understandable, but captivating and applicable. We pride ourselves on not just lecturing about our methods, but putting our research and methods into practice– integrating our methods into a regular practice to transform your relationship to work.

CORE SKILLS

FAQs

Can I purchase just one workshop?

Yes, we do offer any of these eight as standalone workshops.

But we’ve designed this program so that the content flows together. The lessons from one workshop build on the previous one and set a foundation for the next. The program as a whole is more holistic and includes deeper team collaboration and personal work.

WHat if I can’t Make all the workshops?

We understand that schedules change or can’t always be flexible for a weekly commitment. We encourage you to attend as many as you can. That said, each workshop will be recorded and posted for the cohort to review.

How much is this program?

Schedule a call to discuss pricing with us.

How much EXTRA WORK will there be?

It’s up to you. Our assignments will be tiered for each workshop and will include a recommended one hour task a week. But we’ll also offer a suggested daily habit to schedule, and ongoing learning in a book or project to take on if you’re interested in diving deeper. The intention is fun and to integrate the lessons and research into your lives in a practical way. Most of it will pertain to the work you're already doing.

But again, it's up to you.

Will I be able to say, "I’m Caveday Certified” and put it on my LinkedIn?

Obviously.
